Ir. Leslie Chai

Ir. Leslie Chai has over 25 years of experience working in the power utility industry covering planning, projects, operations and maintenance. He currently holds the position of General Manager for System Planning, at the state-owned electric utility and energy development company, Sarawak Energy Berhad, located in Sarawak, Malaysia. Amongst his career highlights, Leslie was amongst a team of key drivers in using renewable energy for rural electrification in Sarawak. He was also amongst the pioneers in ensuring the success of the Sarawak-West Kalimantan interconnection project which commenced power export in early 2016. He is a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and a Certified Competent Electrical Engineer (C.E.E.). He holds a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering from University of Bath (UK) and Masters of Science from Warwick University (UK).
